Reconnect with Nature
This is probably some advice you’ve heard before when it comes to self-care, but it really does work. When we connect with nature, our bodies have time and space to heal any of that negative energy that’s going on in them. Feeling stuck in a funk? Going for a walk or a hike are great self-care activities that will help clear your head.
Your self-care routine might not look the same as everyone else’s, so if nature walks aren’t your thing that’s okay too! Try doing things like picnics with friends, or even going for a drive with the windows down. Let yourself experience joy in nature, even if that means just sitting on your patio for your morning coffee!
Get Your Finances In Check
Finances are not what we typically think about when we’re talking about self-care, but they’re actually so important to maintaining good mental health. Self-care isn’t always about doing what you want or relaxing, sometimes it means getting the hard stuff out of the way so that your daily life gets better.
While normal self-care tips for mental health are probably going to encourage you to hide away from things like finances, sacred self-care means that you’re directly addressing what’s making you anxious and creating a better relationship with it. Journal Out Your Shit
You heard it here first – journaling out your shit works! If you’ve had a bad day, pull out that journal and vent, get all of those negative emotions out of your head and onto paper. Emotional self-care can include taking care of our negative emotions, and journaling is a really great way to get them out without taking it out on anybody.
Journaling isn’t only great for putting negative emotions on paper, it’s also great for those happy or creative moments. Starting your morning by saying how thankful you are for some things in your life, or making a list of what you’re looking forward to in the day, can be a great mood booster to get you in the right mindset!
In our full Self-Care Episode with Fila Antwine, we talked about how awesome journaling can be – and agreed that getting your negative shit down on paper is just what the doctor ordered sometimes! Make sure to check out our full episode and hear Fila’s other awesome tips!
